Jalang’o: I’m in ODM to Stay

Lang’ata MP, Phelix Odiwuor, also known as Jalang’o, asserts his commitment to ODM despite renewed pressure from party leader Raila Odinga for MPs collaborating with the government to step down and seek reelection under a UDA ticket.

During an ODM recruitment drive in Nairobi on Sunday, Raila emphasized that Jalang’o and other MPs should not remain in Parliament under the ODM banner if they continue to work with the government.

Raila urged them to seek fresh mandates under the UDA if they are truly committed.

Jalang’o responded by expressing readiness to seek reelection but affirmed his allegiance to ODM, stating that even if he were to resign, he would run under the ODM ticket.

In an interview on Obinna TV, Jalang’o emphasized his loyalty to ODM, affirming his intention to contest under its banner in future elections.

Despite his alignment with the ruling UDA, Jalang’o remains dedicated to ODM, continuing to fulfill his obligations as a party member.

He reiterated his commitment to ODM, asserting his readiness to contest under its banner and serve the people of Lang’ata.

Despite his deviation from the party line, Jalang’o maintains a cordial relationship with Raila, emphasizing his respect and loyalty to him.

Jalang’o, along with other MPs, faced expulsion from ODM last year but was reinstated by the Political Parties Tribunal in November 2023, citing procedural irregularities in the disciplinary process.
