In an interview with Kamba media stations on Wednesday, Gachagua expressed that he was uncertain about Raila’s current political position. He called on Raila to publicly state whether he intends to support President William Ruto’s re-election bid in the upcoming elections.

After Raila lost the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship to Djibouti’s Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, he mentioned that he would soon reveal his next political move.

“We are unclear about Raila Odinga’s intentions. We are waiting for him to make his position known so that we understand how to work with him,” Gachagua said.

He added, “If he decides to support Ruto, we won’t oppose him.”

The former Deputy President emphasized that he was open to collaborating with Raila.

“I want to tell Raila Odinga’s supporters from Nyanza that they shouldn’t view the people of the Mountain as their enemies. We have no issues with Raila Odinga or ODM,” Gachagua stated.

In the interview, Gachagua also mentioned that their new political movement is focused on uniting Kenyans and encouraging voter registration.

“This is a new beginning, and we are on the right track. We will work with Kalonzo, and while it’s too early to choose a flagbearer, our current goal is to rally Kenyans to vote and remove this administration,” Gachagua said.

Since his impeachment, Gachagua has been engaging with political leaders from both sides, including opposition figures, in preparation for the 2027 elections.

He has met with leaders such as Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua of the People’s Liberation Party (PLP), and Eugene Wamalwa of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), among others.
