Police in Mombasa are investigating the death of a 45-year-old man who fell from the fourth floor of a building in Nyali.
The deceased, identified as Koriata Laytata, is reported to have fallen from the balcony of his apartment at Gishanga Estate along Beach Road on the night of Saturday, October 25, 2025.

According to police, Laytata had just returned home from a nearby restaurant when he realized he had forgotten his house key. He called the restaurant manager, requesting that a rider deliver the key to him.
While waiting on the balcony, he is believed to have accidentally slipped and fallen to his death. When the rider arrived moments later, he found Laytata lying in a pool of blood on the ground floor.
Police say the incident appears to have been accidental. The body was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy and further investigations.

In a separate incident in Nairobi’s Buruburu area, Alfonse Kilonzo died by suicide after allegedly slitting his throat with a kitchen knife.
Police said the body was discovered in a pool of blood hours later. The motive for the suicide remains unclear as investigations continue.
Authorities have raised concern over the growing number of suicide cases reported across the country.
