Dr. Vincent Munyoki, a young leader and founder of the Vincent Munyoki Foundation, expressed strong condemnation for the alleged irregularities within the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).
These irregularities have resulted in the unjust and unacceptable withholding of Form Four results in certain Kenyan schools. Dr. Munyoki, a medical doctor, highlighted the responsibility of KNEC to prepare, set, administer, validate, and release credible results to Kenya’s students.
He drew a parallel between KNEC’s role in examinations and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in ensuring free and credible elections.
” It is the sole responsibility of Kenya national examination council to prepare, set, administer, validate and release credible results to the children of Kenya. The greatest responsibility to ensure examination just like IEBC bears the costs of ensuring free and credible elections in Kenya ,I’m aware of the importance of critical examination,” Munyoki said .
Having a personal connection to St. Mathias Mulumba Matinyani Secondary School, Dr. Munyoki expressed deep concern that the school’s results had not been released by KNEC.
He urged KNEC to promptly release all end results in Kenya, emphasizing that any irregularities should be addressed by the Ministry of Education, with a firm stance against cartels undermining the administration of examinations.
Dr. Munyoki asserted that the responsibility for dealing with issues within KNEC lies with the organization itself and not with vulnerable students. He insisted that KNEC must resolve the matter swiftly, and if Matinyani Secondary School’s results are not released, he vowed to petition the courts to hold KNEC accountable.
Highlighting the significance of Matinyani Secondary School, Dr. Munyoki called for immediate release of results, citing influential alumni such as Kitui County Boss Dr. Julius Malombe, Kitui County Senator Enock Kiio Wambua, and the Catholic Bishop of Kitui Diocese, Bishop Joseph Mwongela, associated with the school.
“Matinyani secondary School is not like any other school to intimidate since we have government officials who are alumni of the school ,the likes of the Kitui county boss Dr. Julius malombe, the Kitui County senator Enock Kiio Wambua and the Catholic bishop of Kitui diocese bishop Joseph Mwongela the school must be respected and the results to be released immediately” He said
