A tragic incident unfolded in Kisii town when a local businessman fatally shot his girlfriend and then took his own life, according to police reports.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, which occurred late Friday night. The man, identified as Vincent Michieka, reportedly shot his girlfriend, Veronica Morande, before using the gun on himself.
Details regarding the motive behind the shooting remain unclear, as police continue their inquiries. Michieka, who held a valid gun license, was found with a gunshot wound to his head alongside Morande, who had been shot in the neck.
The bodies were taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital’s mortuary soon after the incident. Police recovered a Berreta pistol with ammunition and cartridges from the scene, which have been secured as part of the ongoing investigation.
Kisii County Police Commander Charles Kases suggested that such tragic events are often linked to psychological distress and societal pressures.
