A 17-year-old boy is in custody after allegedly stabbing to death the mother of a 19-year-old woman he is accused of impregnating during a heated meeting in Nairobi’s Kayole area.

The violent incident occurred on May 4, 2025, during a family gathering intended to resolve the issue of the pregnancy. Police reported that an argument broke out, prompting the boy to draw a knife and stab the woman fatally in the back, causing heavy bleeding.
Her sister, who was also present, sustained injuries to her hands and mouth as she tried to intervene and was later hospitalized.
Authorities recovered the knife used in the attack, along with a bottle containing a substance believed to be turpentine, suggesting the boy had planned to take his own life after the stabbing.
Police say the suspect arrived prepared to both kill and commit suicide. The woman’s body was transferred to the mortuary as investigations and an autopsy are pending.
