Radio Jambo Sports Journalist Paul ‘Diblo’ Kaberia is dead

Veteran sports journalist and football commentator Paul ‘Diblo’ Kaberia has passed away, leaving the media fraternity in mourning.

Kaberia, who served as a football commentator at Radio Jambo for more than 20 years, was celebrated for his energetic style and deep passion for football.

In a statement released on Sunday, Radio Africa Group HR Manager Jemima Ngode confirmed his death, describing him as a committed broadcaster whose voice resonated with football fans across the country.

“It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our colleague, Mr Paul Kaberia, football commentator at Radio Jambo for over 20 years,” the statement read.

The media house also conveyed condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, asking Kenyans to keep them in their prayers during the difficult period.

Widely known by his nickname “Diblo,” Kaberia became one of the most recognised voices in Kenyan sports broadcasting. His lively football commentary, sharp match analysis, and strong connection with listeners earned him a loyal fan base over the years.

Beyond his work on air, he also mentored upcoming sports journalists and contributed greatly to the growth of sports coverage on both vernacular and mainstream radio stations.

His death is a major blow to Kenya’s sports media industry.
