The United Alternative Government (UAG), led by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, has called on the government to immediately disclose all agreements and protocols related to Kenya’s Ebola preparedness and response, accusing the Kenya Kwanza administration of withholding critical information from the public.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the opposition coalition criticized what it described as a lack of openness surrounding the Ebola issue, arguing that public concern has been fueled by the government’s failure to communicate clearly and engage stakeholders.

The coalition claimed that instead of providing timely updates and reassuring citizens, the administration had resorted to secrecy and inconsistent messaging on a matter of significant public interest.
UAG demanded the publication of all agreements, commitments and protocols linked to Ebola-related programmes, maintaining that any arrangements involving a highly infectious disease should be handled with complete transparency and accountability.
The opposition further questioned the government’s ability to manage such a sensitive issue, citing challenges facing the healthcare sector, including shortages of medicines and underfunded public hospitals.
According to the coalition, public trust can only be built through openness and accountability, principles it says the government has failed to uphold.
The coalition also voiced strong opposition to the Finance Bill 2026, describing it as a continuation of policies that increase the burden on ordinary citizens through higher taxes and increased borrowing.
UAG argued that the government has not addressed concerns over corruption, wastage of public resources and inflated procurement costs, and therefore lacks justification for imposing additional financial pressure on Kenyans.
The opposition maintained that citizens are willing to contribute to national development but expect responsible management of public funds and accountability from those in leadership.
In addition, the coalition announced plans to back a single candidate in the upcoming Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election. It said the candidate would be selected through independent opinion polling and scientific surveys to identify the contender with the strongest chance of winning.

The coalition also urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), security agencies and political stakeholders to ensure the by-election is conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner.
UAG warned against voter bribery, intimidation, misuse of state resources and any attempts to manipulate the electoral process.
The coalition concluded that concerns over Ebola-related secrecy, the proposed Finance Bill 2026 and the integrity of upcoming elections all reflect broader issues of governance, accountability and leadership priorities within the current administration.
