Arati: ODM–UDA Will Take Power in 2027

Simba Arati has stated that the alliance between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is set to form the next government.

Speaking during William Ruto’s development tour in Kisii, Arati—who also serves as ODM’s deputy party leader—said their collaboration with the President puts them in a strong position ahead of the 2027 General Election.

He noted that the political dynamics have shifted since the 2022 elections, where ODM, led by Raila Odinga, lost to Ruto despite having the backing of the then administration.

Arati explained that Odinga later called for cooperation with Ruto, laying the foundation for the current working relationship between ODM and UDA. He expressed confidence that the partnership will hold and ultimately deliver victory in 2027.

He also dismissed internal critics, saying attempts to derail the alliance would not succeed, and insisted that the coalition is determined to take power.

According to Arati, residents of Kisii have already thrown their support behind the alliance and are ready for the next government even before the 2027 polls.

Meanwhile, President Ruto reaffirmed his administration’s focus on development, saying it will not be distracted by opposition criticism. He urged political rivals to present their agendas to voters and let Kenyans decide.

Ruto added that UDA will continue working with ODM under a broad-based government model aimed at promoting unity and inclusivity, while rejecting divisive politics.

During his tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties, the President launched and inspected several development projects, including the planned upgrade of Suneka Airstrip into a fully operational airport.
