Meanwhile, in Nairobi’s Kasarani area, an attempted robbery turned deadly when an irate mob stoned a suspect to death on Wednesday evening. The suspect, said to have been with two accomplices, was cornered behind the stadium after an alarm was raised.

Police later recovered a dagger near the body, which was moved to the mortuary for autopsy as investigations continue.

In Bungoma County, another mob killing was reported in Daraja Mungu village, Kimilili. A 35-year-old man, Moses Wanyama, was lynched over theft allegations. His body, which bore multiple injuries, was taken to the mortuary pending a postmortem.

Security experts warn that the rising cases of mob justice stem from public distrust in the police and courts, with communities fearing that suspects will be released to reoffend. However, police have urged the public to hand over suspects for due process, cautioning that many lynching victims may be innocent or framed.

Authorities added that individuals found participating in mob killings have previously been arrested and charged.
