Gachagua claimed that Ruto is plotting to oust Koome for refusing to align with his political agenda, a move he vowed to oppose vigorously.
Gachagua’s remarks were sharp as he declared that Ruto would be unwelcome in Meru if he moved forward with the alleged purge of the Chief Justice. “She is being fought because she has refused to be a ‘yes sir’ person,” Gachagua stated.
“If you chase our Martha Koome, don’t set foot in Meru. You chased Rigathi Gachagua, and the people of Mt. Kenya were silent, you thought they were cowards,” he added, warning the president against underestimating the region’s resolve.
He then issued a direct challenge to Ruto, saying, “We are telling you, if you dare plan to chase Martha Koome, stay in Nairobi and do not step in Meru again.” Gachagua suggested that Ruto should focus on his own political battles rather than targeting Koome, whom he defended as a woman caught in a political fight. “You fought with me because I am a man, leave Martha Koome alone, she is a woman. Why are you fighting women? Can you fight your fellow men?” he questioned.
In his speech, Gachagua also turned his ire on political leaders from Meru, accusing them of complicity in the alleged plot against Koome. He criticized the region’s leaders, including the Senator and all 10 Members of Parliament, for remaining silent while the Chief Justice came under attack.
“Martha Koome is being chased out and the Senator is silent, all the 10 MPs are silent. What is happening to the people of Meru? These are the descendants of the Mau Mau. What has happened to the leadership of Meru?” he asked.

The embattled politician made it clear that if Koome is ousted, he would rally the people of Meru to take to the streets in protest against the State. He warned that the ongoing actions against the Mt. Kenya region by the government were unacceptable. “If this woman is expelled, we will blow the whistle and take to the streets. We are not going to sit back as William Ruto destroys the leadership of Mt. Kenya. It’s too much, it cannot be,” Gachagua declared.
The comments mark a significant escalation in Gachagua’s public dissent against President Ruto and his administration, reflecting the growing political rift between the two former allies.
