Two Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers lost their lives in a plane crash that occurred on Saturday, June 14, in the Ndavaya area of Kinango, Kwale County.

The incident involved a Kenya Air Force fixed-wing aircraft, with registration number KAF 718.
The cause of the crash remains unknown.
Eyewitnesses reported that the aircraft went down, killing all those on board.
According to flight data, the plane had taken off from Mombasa at 11:39 am and was last tracked near Diani before it vanished from radar. It crashed around 12:06 pm, just 27 minutes into the flight.
Emergency responders, including Kenya Air Force crash investigators, were quickly deployed to the crash site to begin recovery operations. Police also secured the area as investigations got underway.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the KDF confirmed the incident.
“Earlier today, June 14, 2025, a Kenya Air Force Grob 120A aircraft encountered an emergency during a training flight near Mwakijembe Primary School in Ndavaya, Kwale County,” read the statement.
“The aircraft had two pilots on board. Recovery efforts are in progress,” KDF added.
