Preparations are in full swing for the 10th Annual Scientific Diabetes Conference, set to take place in mid-May in Naivasha.
This year’s event, themed “A Decade in Diabetes Care,” will highlight advancements, teamwork, and dedication in diabetes management, research, and advocacy.
Kenya Diabetes Study Group (KDSG) President Rosslyn Ngugi shared that the conference aims to stimulate meaningful dialogue and encourage collaborations that will influence the future of diabetes care both in Kenya and globally.
“In our community, the impact of diabetes is especially severe, particularly among vulnerable groups. Issues like access to care, the affordability of treatments, and the need for enhanced awareness and prevention efforts remain urgent challenges that require our focus,” she stated.
Ngugi emphasized that the global diabetes crisis continues to be a major concern, calling for renewed partnerships and innovative approaches.
“We will engage in insightful discussions, present cutting-edge research, and explore new strategies to tackle the challenges of diabetes care. Experts in the field will share their knowledge, and we will collaborate on solutions to shape the future of diabetes management,” she explained.
Kenya has seen a steady increase in diabetes cases, with lifestyle changes and urbanization being major contributing factors.
