Francis Openda will serve as her deputy during the new term.
Other elected officials include Agnes Mwangangi as the representative for Radio, Julius Bosire for Academia, Mildred Awuor for Television, Linda Bach for Print, and Kenfrey Kiberenge for Online/Digital. Trustees chosen were Martin Masai, Ruth Nesoba, and Mbugua Ng’ang’a.
The elections had originally been scheduled for April 12 but were postponed due to a lack of quorum at the annual general meeting (AGM). According to the returning officer at the time, the meeting could not proceed without the required two-thirds membership participation.
“The law mandates a two-thirds threshold, which we haven’t met,” the officer explained. “Proceeding without this requirement would be inadvisable unless members agree to delay and rally for quorum.”
Ahead of the polls, KEG had urged its members to participate actively and uphold the core values of integrity, professionalism, and mutual respect.
