Out of an estimated 246,000 students who qualified for placement into higher learning institutions, only 104,000 have applied so far. With just one week remaining before the portal closes, the low turnout is raising concern among Ministry of Education officials.

In response, ministry representatives have been traveling across the country, urging students and parents to take the registration process seriously and complete applications before the deadline.

Professor John Oluoch, Director of Placement and Career Development at KUCCPS, noted, “We have deployed officers from Nairobi to all 47 counties to assist with registration. Although we haven’t reached the halfway mark, we are optimistic that we’ll see a surge in the coming days.”

He added that the system infrastructure is fully prepared, and encouraged students to take advantage of the smooth process and register without delay.

During a visit to Kisii County, officials engaged with stakeholders, addressing common concerns and helping students navigate challenges in the application process.

Meanwhile, medical students from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) used the forum to appeal to the government for inclusion in the higher education funding program to support their academic pursuits.
