The US naval blockade against ships entering and leaving Iranian ports has been ongoing this weekend.
Donald Trump announced the ban a week ago, less than a day after lengthy talks between the US and Iran in Pakistan failed to reach an agreement.
US forces said they would intercept or turn back ships traveling to or from the Iranian coast, regardless of nationality.
The United States hopes to put pressure on Iran by reducing its ability to profit from oil exports.
The US commander in chief said this weekend that he has forced 23 ships to turn back near the Strait of Hormuz since the blockade began.
In a social media post published just an hour ago, Centcom says “the blockade has completely halted economic trade in and out of Iran by sea”.
However, BBC Verify tracked at least four ships from Iranian ports that appeared to have crossed the US blockade line.
Iran says it is far from a peace deal with the US, as the Strait of Hormuz is closed again
The speaker of Iran’s parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, says that while “progress has been made” in talks to end the war with the United States, the two sides are “not close to reaching a final agreement”.

Ghalibaf was in Pakistan last week for peace talks with US delegations, including Vice President JD Vance.
No date has been set for the next round of talks.
