Kenya Power Announces Planned Blackout for Sunday, February 15

Kenya Power has issued a notice informing customers that several areas will face electricity outages on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

In a statement shared on X on Saturday, February 14, 2026, the power distributor advised affected residents to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled interruption.

The planned outage will impact parts of Nairobi and Kisumu counties as the company undertakes routine system maintenance and upgrades.

Areas affected

In Nairobi, sections of Westlands will be without power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected locations include Suswa Road, Wangapala Road, parts of Mpaka Road, Ngao Road, and nearby customers.

In Kisumu’s Manyatta Estate, the blackout will cover Manyatta Market, Manyatta Site, Magadi Secondary School, Mbeme Junction, and surrounding areas. Residents are encouraged to verify the exact outage timelines as provided by the utility.

Kenya Re Estate will also experience power disruption. The listed areas include NHC Mamboleo, Lolwe Estate, Kenya Re Estate, Kisumu Showground, Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium, Ezra Gumbe Primary School, Translake Apartments, Ogango, and neighbouring customers.

Further, areas around Polyview and Prince Hotel will be affected between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. These include Kaloleni Estate, Makasembo, Polyview, Prince Hotel, parts of Arina Estate, Shauri Moyo Estate, and adjacent premises.

Kenya Power stated that the scheduled outages are essential to enable technical teams to enhance network reliability and maintain safe operations.
