Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have arrested former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani and Marsabit Governor Mohamud Mohamed Ali.
The two are being investigated over alleged embezzlement of Ksh.8 billion county funds.
The arrest comes in the wake of a raid by EACC detectives on their homes in Nairobi and Marsabit.
Also under probe are several senior officials of the Marsabit County Government.
Yattani, who previously served as Marsabit County Governor, has since been taken in at the EACC Integrity Centre headquarters in Nairobi.
Governor Mohamed and other county officials are being transferred to Nairobi.
