The company said the appointment followed a competitive recruitment process. A transition period has been arranged to facilitate a smooth handover of leadership.

Kibet brings more than 17 years of experience in geothermal development, project implementation and commercial strategy. In his current role, he oversees key areas including energy markets, investments, business development, strategic partnerships and sustainability.

He has also played a role in expanding KenGen’s international consultancy business and advancing the development of the Olkaria Green Energy Park.

His appointment comes as the electricity generator pursues business diversification beyond power production, with a growing focus on consultancy and other commercial opportunities.
