Hassan Mugambi and Chemutai Goin are poised to depart from their roles at Citizen TV, marking a notable change in Kenya’s media landscape as they transition to new positions within the government.
Insider information reveals that both Mugambi and Goin are in the process of serving their resignation notices and are expected to leave the Royal Media Services-owned network very soon.
Hassan Mugambi, known for his work as both a news anchor and security correspondent, has been a fixture at Citizen TV for the past six years, following previous roles at K24.

Throughout his time at Citizen TV, Mugambi has received widespread acclaim, including prestigious awards such as the 2019 Outstanding Media Security Investigative Journalist, in recognition of his extensive coverage of security issues in Kenya.
Similarly, Chemutai Goin, an experienced journalist with a background spanning various media outlets, including KTN and K24, will also bid farewell to Citizen TV. Goin’s reporting primarily focuses on politics, governance, current affairs, and development journalism.

Her profile rose notably during the lead-up to the 2022 general elections, where she distinguished herself as a prominent reporter covering crucial electoral developments.
While neither Mugambi nor Goin has officially confirmed their upcoming departures, speculation abounds regarding their future career paths.
There are rumors suggesting that Mugambi may join the Ministry of Defence under the leadership of Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, supported by his recent social media activity endorsing Duale’s initiatives and his reported trip to the U.S. alongside CS Duale.

Meanwhile, Goin is said to be preparing to take on a role within the Speaker of the National Assembly’s office.
