UDA Deputy Secretary General Daniel Ole Sambu is Dead

President William Ruto announced the news on Thursday night, noting that Sambu’s guidance and experience will be greatly missed.

He described him as a principled leader, a gentleman, and an effective grassroots mobiliser who upheld mature and progressive politics. Ruto extended condolences to Sambu’s family, friends and the entire UDA community.

The party also issued its own tribute, calling Sambu a key pillar of UDA and a committed democrat who strongly supported the party’s values. Secretary General Hassan Omar highlighted Sambu’s strategic contributions and dedication to strengthening the party’s structures from the grassroots.

He sent sympathies to the family and assured them of the party’s support during the difficult period.

Sambu was appointed Deputy SG during UDA’s restructuring ahead of the 2022 General Election. Beyond politics, he was involved in conservation work.

Big Life Foundation, where he served as the Predator Compensation Fund (PCF) Program Coordinator, described him as a respected colleague, community figure and a compassionate leader. The organisation said his legacy of service and commitment to people and wildlife will continue to inspire their work.
