UDA Announces Major Constitution Changes

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced proposed amendments to its party constitution and is inviting members to submit comments before the changes are adopted.

In a notice issued under Section 20(2) of the Political Parties Act, 2011, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar said the revised constitution has been published on the party’s official website for members to review.

Party members have been encouraged to submit their written views and recommendations through UDA’s official email address.

According to Omar, anyone wishing to comment on the proposed amendments can access the document on the party’s website and forward their feedback via the designated official email.

The constitutional review comes as political parties continue refining their internal governance structures in preparation for next year’s General Election.

UDA says its constitution is anchored on values such as good governance, accountability, transparency, equity, diversity, justice, unity, freedom and peace.

The party also states that its leadership is committed to promoting good governance, creating a favourable environment for business growth, developing human capital, enhancing political stability and improving the welfare of Kenyans.

UDA’s official symbol remains the wheelbarrow, which represents the dignity and value of work, while its colours are yellow, black and green on a white background. The party continues to use the slogan “Kazi ni Kazi.”

Formerly known as the Party of Development and Reforms (PDR), UDA rebranded in December 2020 before becoming the political vehicle that backed President William Ruto’s successful presidential campaign in the 2022 General Election after his departure from the Jubilee Party.

Following the elections, UDA secured the largest number of seats in both the National Assembly and the Senate, establishing itself as the country’s ruling party and the dominant force within the Kenya Kwanza coalition.
