Instagram has rolled out one of its most requested features: the ability to schedule Direct Messages.

This update provides both individuals and brands with greater control over when their messages are sent.
Now available worldwide, users can draft messages and schedule them up to 29 days in advance.
Whether it’s for sending messages at specific times to friends, setting reminders, or businesses wanting to reach audiences during peak hours, this feature is a valuable addition.
To schedule a message, users can simply compose their text and, instead of hitting the “Send” button, choose a date and time for delivery.
By default, the scheduled time aligns with the settings of the sender’s device, ensuring accurate timing based on the sender’s current time zone.
Once scheduled, users will receive a notification each time they open the chat, reminding them that the message is queued to send.
Currently, the feature only supports text messages, meaning images, videos, and other media still need to be sent in real-time.
This update is a significant advancement for Instagram’s messaging platform, which has been undergoing numerous improvements to enhance functionality and compete with platforms like Snapchat.
In addition to scheduling DMs, Instagram has introduced several other enhancements, such as the ability to edit sent messages, draw on photos, share locations with friends, and assign custom nicknames to contacts within DMs—features that go beyond the standard use of Instagram usernames.
These updates reflect Instagram’s commitment to increasing flexibility and ease in its messaging system.
The scheduling function, in particular, is expected to be a game-changer for businesses, influencers, and content creators, allowing them to plan messages in advance and connect with their audience at the optimal moment.
With this feature, Instagram strengthens its role as a messaging hub, meeting both personal and professional communication needs.
