Traffic Flow Resumes at Globe Roundabout After Repairs

In a statement released on Wednesday, the agency said the roundabout had been temporarily closed from March 12, 2026, to facilitate the rehabilitation works.

The closure had disrupted movement between Nairobi’s CBD, Kipande Road, and Thika Superhighway.

KeNHA explained that the repairs were essential to strengthen the bridge’s structure and improve safety for all road users along the busy route.

“Motorists can now resume normal travel along this section,” the authority said.

The reopening is expected to ease traffic congestion that had built up during the repair period.

KeNHA also expressed appreciation to motorists and residents for their patience and cooperation throughout the project.

The restoration of the Globe Roundabout is set to bring relief to thousands of commuters who rely on the route daily, as it serves as a key link between Nairobi’s city centre and residential areas as well as satellite towns along Thika Road.

The junction is one of Nairobi’s most important traffic points, connecting major routes including University Way, Kipande Road, Limuru Road, and Thika Superhighway.

It also provides access to Kirinyaga Road and the OTC area, making it a vital entry and exit point for motorists heading to and from the CBD.

KeNHA, a state corporation under the Ministry of Roads and Transport, is mandated to develop, maintain, and manage national trunk roads across the country, while ensuring safety, quality, and efficient transport infrastructure in line with Kenya’s development agenda.
