Regional airline Safarilink has rejected social media claims suggesting that it had drastically raised ticket prices for the Nairobi–Kisumu route.
The company described the allegations as “false and misleading” after Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai posted on X that one-way tickets were allegedly going for $644 (Sh93,000).

In screenshots circulating online, Alai claimed that the airline had inflated fares due to increased travel demand to Kisumu as Kenyans head to Bondo, Siaya County, for the burial of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
In response, Safarilink said: “We categorically refute the misleading and baseless claims being circulated by Mr. Robert Alai and Mr. Cyprian Nyakundi. The screenshots shared, including those purportedly from our booking system, do not reflect the full range of fare options available across different travel dates.”
The carrier clarified that its ticket prices remain within the standard range, starting from Sh6,500, with variations based on demand and booking time.
“Safarilink operates a transparent, tiered fare structure — from Promo to Premium classes — all clearly visible during the booking process,” the statement added.
The airline further emphasized that such inflated prices have never existed in its system, reiterating that fares on the Kisumu–Nairobi route consistently start at Sh6,500 for upcoming travel dates.
