Rotich Lands Job in Ruto Administration

Former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich has been appointed by President William Ruto to serve as the Senior Advisor on Fiscal Affairs and Budget Policy within the government.

This appointment was communicated through a letter from Felix Koskei, the Head of the Public Service.

Rotich, who previously held the position of head of Macroeconomics at the Treasury before assuming the role of Cabinet Secretary in 2013, was relieved of his duties on January 14, 2020, due to his involvement in a court case.

Following the court proceedings, where Rotich was one of the accused, charges against him were dropped in December. The court found a lack of evidence regarding specific breaches related to procurement and public finance management laws.

Trial Magistrate Eunice Nyutu stated that there was insufficient evidence to require them to defend themselves, resulting in the acquittal of all accused parties under section 210.

Rotich holds a Master’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Sociology from the University of Nairobi.
