The National Police Service (NPS) has taken immediate action in response to a terror alert issued by the United States Embassy in Nairobi on Friday.

The NPS has heightened its vigilance nationwide to ensure the safety of the public. The police have adopted a multi-agency approach to bolster security and are collaborating closely with various national, regional, and international security agencies, as well as utilizing intelligence-led policing.
In a statement, the NPS assured the public of their safety and urged citizens to remain alert. “The National Police Service is committed to a multi-agency security strategy and continues to work in coordination with other security entities and the public to maintain security. We encourage everyone to report any suspicious activity or individuals to the nearest police station or through our toll-free numbers: 112, 991, and 999, or the #FichuakwaDCI hotline at 0800722203.”
This response follows a warning from the US Embassy in Nairobi, which advised American citizens of potential terror threats. The embassy’s alert highlighted that locations frequently visited by foreigners, including tourists, in Nairobi and other areas of Kenya could be targeted.
The embassy cautioned that terrorist attacks might occur with little or no warning, targeting places such as hotels, restaurants, embassies, malls, markets, schools, police stations, and places of worship.
