Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has dismissed recent rumors of her arrest in the United Kingdom, attributing them to political adversaries.

According to Ndeti, these accusations were spread by corrupt individuals aiming to tarnish her reputation, despite her success in advancing development projects in Machakos.
Addressing the media upon her return to Kenya at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Ndeti labeled these allegations as a backlash from corruption, asserting that falsehoods would not deter her from her duties. She emphasized that her trip to the UK was productive, focusing on acquiring fire engines and garbage collection equipment for Machakos.
Ndeti, who was accompanied by her eldest son Charles Oduwoale, received a warm welcome from family, Machakos MCAs, county executives, and local residents. She revealed that during her stay, she secured two fire engines as donations for the county and extended her visit to assist her younger daughter with her university transition.
The governor expressed her determination to continue serving Machakos with dedication, despite criticisms from her opponents. She highlighted significant achievements of her administration over the past two years, including consolidating 211 pay bill accounts into two to enhance transparency in revenue collection and ensuring timely payments to employees.
Ndeti noted that her administration had increased the county’s own-source revenue from Sh1 billion to Sh1.7 billion, demonstrating effective financial management. She also mentioned ongoing efforts to automate revenue collection and improve hospital processes, which have exposed inefficiencies and disrupted previous corrupt practices.
The governor reaffirmed her commitment to reform, including restructuring land ownership processes and enhancing legal compliance, which she believes has unsettled those who previously benefited from the system’s flaws. She also emphasized the success of empowerment programs and their impact on women’s leadership.
In her concluding remarks, Ndeti acknowledged that her efforts to combat corruption have faced resistance from those who have profited from the old system. She vowed to continue tightening controls and dismantling corrupt networks, asserting that her administration’s reforms are here to stay.
