CS Duale Praises Quiver Lounge Kilimani for Halting Music

Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has commended Quiver Lounge Kilimani for its decision to cease playing music at its venue.

Duale views this move as a positive step towards reducing noise pollution and promoting a safer, healthier environment.

He pointed out that the action aligns with Section 4 (1) of the EMCA regulations, which prohibit excessive vibrations and noise that could disturb or endanger others’ comfort and safety. Duale highlighted that Quiver Lounge’s commitment to eliminating such disturbances demonstrates a responsible approach to business operations.

In a statement on X, Duale expressed his support for the club’s initiative, stating that it reflects a progressive attitude towards environmental and community well-being.

Quiver Lounge Kilimani announced this change on Monday, explaining that the decision was made in the spirit of unity and environmental conservation, following discussions with local residents. The club aims to set a precedent by being the first to implement a no-music policy.

According to the club, this new approach is designed to foster a lively and engaging atmosphere where patrons can enjoy conversations and connections without the distraction of loud music. The lounge promises a welcoming environment, with a focus on providing excellent food and drinks, as well as attentive service.

This announcement came shortly after Nairobi county officials issued a notice threatening to close the lounge due to noise pollution complaints. Nairobi’s Chief Officer for Environment, Geoffrey Mosiria, stated that the notice was issued after several warnings about the excessive noise had gone unheeded.

Mosiria emphasized that the county government is committed to ensuring that no establishment disrupts the well-being of nearby residents with loud music.
