After his arrival, the group proceeded to Lee Funeral Home to view the body of his younger sister, Beryl Achieng’ Odinga.
Oburu, 82, had taken a brief break following a demanding stretch of political and family responsibilities, including the death of his younger brother, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
His son, Jaoko Oburu Odinga, clarified that the Dubai trip was simply a chance for the seasoned politician to rest.
“There has been speculation about his health. We have been mourning Baba (Raila), and there was ODM at 20. He hadn’t had time to rest or grieve his own brother. He took a short break in Dubai and is now back,” he said.
Oburu’s time away came only weeks after he took over the ODM leadership following Raila’s passing. Since then, he has overseen funeral arrangements, spearheaded the party’s 20th anniversary events, and even joined campaign activities, including the Kasipul by-election.

His absence had raised questions and concerns about his well-being due to fewer public appearances, but the family assured the public that he was simply taking time off to recuperate.
