Residents of Menengai East Ward in Nakuru East Sub County can anticipate improved maternal healthcare services with the completion of the Menengai Maternity project.
This initiative, aimed at reducing travel distances for expectant mothers, is nearing readiness for public use.
Wilson Mwangi, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for the area, disclosed that the construction of the new facility was financed through the Ward Fund, totaling Sh7 million.
The facility boasts essential amenities such as ante-natal and post-natal units, a delivery room, a kitchen, a boardroom, among others, and is anticipated to cater to a population catchment of 31,621 individuals.
During the handover ceremony from the contractor to the MCA, health department officials, and enthusiastic members of the public, assurances were made that the facility would be fully equipped in the forthcoming financial year, commencing in July.
