Guo Haiyan, the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, has officially presented her credentials to President William Ruto at State House in Nairobi, committing to strengthening the relationship between the two nations.

Ambassador Guo, who succeeds Dr. Zhou Pingjian, expressed her determination to boost bilateral ties, especially in the areas of infrastructure, trade, investment, and addressing climate change.
In his response, President Ruto warmly welcomed the Ambassador and reaffirmed Kenya’s ongoing commitment to building strong ties with China. He highlighted the significance of mutual cooperation in tackling global issues.
“Kenya remains dedicated to fostering our friendly relations with China, particularly in infrastructure, trade, and investment,” said President Ruto. “We are also focused on addressing the global challenge of climate change and furthering our collaboration within the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).”
China has been a key partner in Kenya’s growth, contributing to major infrastructure projects such as the Standard Gauge Railway and Nairobi Expressway. The two countries have also worked together in various fields, including agriculture, technology, and education, which have played a vital role in Kenya’s economic progress.
Ambassador Guo, who has had a distinguished career in Chinese diplomacy, expressed confidence in the future of Kenya-China relations. “Our goal is to deepen collaboration in various sectors to ensure mutual benefits and sustained economic growth,” she stated after presenting her credentials.
During the ceremony, discussions were held about future partnerships, emphasizing sustainable development, economic growth, and how Kenya’s strategic position could enhance trade links between China and East Africa.
