Peter Mbae Resigns as Head of the Government Delivery Service, Sites Issues with Felix Koskei

Peter Mbae, the Head of the Government Delivery Service (GDS), has resigned, citing ongoing frustrations with unresolved issues with Head of Public Service Felix Koskei.

In his resignation letter to the appointing authority, Mbae mentioned persistent challenges that have prevented him from effectively carrying out his responsibilities since his appointment in June 2023.

Previously, Mbae served as Secretary for Investments Promotion in the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry.

He stated, “Despite my dedication, focus, and consistency, the issues I have repeatedly raised, which remain unaddressed, have made it impossible for me to perform my duties as intended. My position is no longer viable.”

As Head of GDS, Mbae was tasked with overseeing government programs and projects across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), working to improve coordination, eliminate duplication, and track progress on national priorities and presidential directives to ensure maximum socio-economic impact.

In his resignation letter, Mbae expressed disappointment over the lack of progress on the issues he had raised, despite his efforts to contribute to the transformative agenda outlined in the Kenya Kwanza Government manifesto.

He concluded by stating that, in order to remain accountable to the Kenyan public, he had made the decision to step down and pursue other interests.
