Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has called on the national government to stop compelling counties to adopt the new e-procurement system, terming it unnecessarily complex and a tool for siphoning public funds.

Speaking during a funeral service at Cherang’any Hills Secondary School, the governor accused the State of introducing systems and policies that promote corruption instead of strengthening devolution. He likened the system to e-Citizen, which he claimed has already facilitated massive theft.
“We will soon be told that someone behind the system has pocketed billions. Counties are independent and no one should force e-procurement down our throats,” Natembeya said, adding that delayed funds and unpaid salaries were crippling county operations.
He further criticised the Social Health Authority, branding it the “biggest scam,” and vowed to revoke both SHA and e-procurement should he get the mandate after the 2027 elections.
Natembeya maintained that the Constitution guarantees the autonomy of counties and urged the government to respect devolved units instead of undermining them with what he described as unworkable policies.
