Mudavadi Hands Over ICT Docket to Kabogo

William Kabogo has assumed the role of Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy and has committed to driving wealth and job creation through his ministry.

Upon taking office from acting CS, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Kabogo emphasized that his ministry plays a crucial role in promoting economic growth and employment. He pledged to work collaboratively with his team, Cabinet colleagues, and other stakeholders to realize this goal.

“Our journey towards a digitally connected Kenya begins now. This ministry is key to fostering wealth and job creation, and I am dedicated to working with all involved to bring this vision to life,” he remarked.

Mudavadi welcomed Kabogo, noting that the new CS is well-known to the ministry staff, having served as an MP, Kiambu Governor, and businessman. He described Kabogo as a straightforward leader who speaks his mind. Mudavadi encouraged the staff to fully support the new CS in his efforts to serve the country effectively and equitably.

Mudavadi also urged Kabogo to ensure that the government’s achievements and initiatives are communicated clearly to the public, acknowledging the challenges in media relations.

“We need to be better at highlighting our successes,” Mudavadi said. “We’re often criticized by the media because we don’t share our positive stories. If we don’t promote ourselves, who will?”

Additionally, Mudavadi tasked Kabogo with leading efforts to ensure responsible use of Artificial Intelligence and social media. He stressed the importance of national dialogue on these issues, likening it to the rules of football, where a penalty is enforced for improper actions.
