Nairobi Ranked Fifth-Best City in Africa by Trip Advisor

Nairobi has been ranked as the fifth-best city in Africa by Trip Advisor in its Travellers’ Choice Awards.

The top African destination, according to Trip Advisor, is Marrakech in Morocco, followed by Mauritius in second place. Zanzibar in Tanzania secured the third spot, while South Africa’s Cape Town Central placed fourth.

Rebecca Miano, the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, celebrated the achievement on social media, urging continued peace, patriotism, prosperity, and kindness. “Kenya is our home and a dream destination for the world,” she added.

In addition to its bustling urban area, Nairobi is home to a national park, a large game reserve known for breeding endangered black rhinos, as well as giraffes, zebras, and lions. Nearby, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust operates a well-known elephant orphanage.

Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards honor the best destinations, hotels, restaurants, and activities worldwide based on the reviews and ratings submitted by travelers over the past 12 months. To qualify for an award, a place or business must have been listed on Tripadvisor for at least a year, received a certain number of reviews during the evaluation period, and maintained or exceeded a minimum rating.

The 2025 winners celebrate the best of the previous year, with Tripadvisor noting that Marrakesh, also known as the “Red City,” is a magical destination filled with markets, gardens, palaces, and mosques. Visitors can spend a day exploring the historic Medina’s courtyards and alleyways or find peace at the tranquil Jardin Majorelle or one of the city’s many beautiful mosques.
