The Kenya Revenue Authority has announced a vacancy for the position of Commissioner General following the exit of Humphrey Wattanga.
In a notice, KRA said the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing the Authority’s resources, and providing strategic leadership to staff while ensuring the institution meets its vision of enhancing voluntary tax compliance.

The agency stated that applicants must possess a Master’s degree in fields such as Finance, Business, Economics, or Law, along with at least 15 years of professional experience, including 10 years in senior leadership roles. Familiarity with tax policy and administration will be an added advantage.
The move comes after Lilian Nyawanda was appointed Acting Commissioner General, taking over from Wattanga, who has gone on terminal leave. Nyawanda also serves as Commissioner for Customs and Border Control.

Meanwhile, President William Ruto has nominated Wattanga to serve as Kenya’s High Commissioner to South Africa.
