Kajiado: Court Hands Life Sentence to Man for Defiling 11-Year-Old Boy

A Kajiado court has sentenced a middle-aged man to life imprisonment after convicting him of sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy in 2022, a decision praised by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) as a strong step toward protecting children.

The court found that the accused lured the boy from his home under false pretences and subjected him to repeated sexual abuse.

Magistrate Hon. V. Kachuodho, who delivered the judgment, noted that the offender deliberately targeted a vulnerable child, and the gravity of the crime justified the maximum sentence under the law.

The minor testified that he had been left alone and repeatedly abused, placing his life at serious risk. Five prosecution witnesses, led by Senior State Counsel Linda Nzioka, presented consistent and credible evidence supporting the conviction.

Kenyan courts have increasingly rejected attempts to resolve defilement cases through forced marriage, ensuring perpetrators cannot escape justice by marrying their victims.

The Kajiado ruling underscores that sexual offences against children are treated with the utmost seriousness and carry strict legal consequences, reflecting the judiciary’s commitment to deterrence.

The DPP called on the public to take active steps in safeguarding children and emphasized that combating sexual abuse requires collaboration between authorities, communities, and families.
