Police in Nairobi are investigating after the decomposed body of a woman was discovered in a house in Pipeline estate.
According to authorities, residents reported a strong, unpleasant odor coming from the property and sought help in identifying its source. When they found the house locked, they called in the police.
Upon entering the premises, officers found the body of an unidentified woman lying on the floor next to a bed, with a manila string reportedly tied around her neck.
The house owner, a man known to police, was not present at the scene. He was last seen on December 30 moving a television set and a woofer, which he reportedly intended to take to his rural home.
Police believe the body had been in the house for up to two days before it was discovered on January 2. The body has been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy, while officers continue to investigate and are seeking a person of interest.
The motive behind the incident remains unclear.
