Residents reported that Michael Nomo had not been seen for around three days before his decomposed body was discovered on Wednesday evening. Neighbours alerted the authorities after noticing a foul smell coming from his home.
Police forced entry into the house and found Nomo’s body, which had visible septic wounds on the stomach and legs. He was living alone at the time. The body was taken to the mortuary for a post-mortem and further investigation.
In a separate case in Karumandi, Kirinyaga County, the body of Geoffrey Murithi, 44, was found by the roadside with injuries to the head. Police suspect murder but the motive remains unclear. His body was also moved to the mortuary for examination.
Meanwhile, in Bonyanchaire sub-location, Suneka, Kisii County, 47-year-old Sebastian Ogato was discovered dead in a deserted, mud-walled house. Authorities were notified well after the death had occurred. The body was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
In Ekerenyo, Nyamira County, 68-year-old David Nyakangi was found dead in his mud-walled home. The cause of death was not immediately determined, and the body was moved to the mortuary for further investigation.
Elsewhere, in Emuberi, Mumias (Kakamega County), an 18-year-old man identified as Ignatius Munyendo was lynched by a mob after allegedly being caught stealing farm produce. His body, which had multiple stab wounds, was found on a wooden bench covered with a blanket.
Police say the attack was prompted when the farm owner raised the alarm and her sons, along with other villagers, assaulted the young man. Authorities have launched an investigation and reiterated their warning against mob justice, urging the public to hand over suspects to law enforcement. They added that individuals involved in such acts will face serious legal consequences.
