Airtel Money Launches Bizna Wallet to Support Small Businesses

Airtel Money Kenya has introduced Bizna Wallet, a dedicated business wallet built to help the country’s small business owners manage their finances more effectively through a simple, secure, and efficient digital platform.

The launch comes as Kenyan SMEs increasingly embrace digital payments. According to the Mastercard SME Confidence Index, 95 percent of small businesses now accept mobile payments, signaling growing demand for financial tools that go beyond basic money collection.

Bizna Wallet is designed to meet this need by giving entrepreneurs a dedicated business account to manage cash flow while boosting confidence in digital transactions.

Speaking at the launch, Airtel Money Kenya Acting Managing Director Michael Bonke said the product was developed specifically to address the practical financial management challenges facing Kenya’s growing small business sector.

Bonke noted that although small businesses form the backbone of Kenya’s economy, many entrepreneurs still rely on personal mobile money wallets to run their operations. He explained that Bizna Wallet is tailored for kiosk owners, market traders, boda boda riders, matatu operators, and other micro-business owners, allowing them to separate business income from personal funds, track daily sales, access mini statements, receive payments across different mobile money networks, and safeguard business transactions from unauthorized reversals. He said the goal is to give entrepreneurs better visibility over their cash flow and more stable business operations, while making digital financial services more accessible and rewarding overall.

In addition to the new wallet, Airtel Money has expanded its Rudishiwa cashback program to benefit both business owners and individual customers. All Airtel Money users can now earn 50 percent cashback on eligible transactions, including paybill payments, transfers to other mobile money networks, bank-to-wallet transfers, and wallet-to-bank transfers.

Bonke said the expanded cashback offering reflects Airtel Money’s ongoing investment in technology and innovation as Kenya’s digital economy continues to grow. He noted that the company had previously offered airtime-based rewards but has now shifted to real cash rewards, which are credited directly into a customer’s cashback wallet for every qualifying transaction. Customers can then transfer these funds into their main Airtel Money wallet.

The cashback program is open to all registered Airtel Money customers in Kenya who complete qualifying transactions of KES 101 or more, with no opt-in required. Rewards are applied instantly as cash — rather than airtime — into a dedicated Cashback Wallet, accessible to both USSD (334#) and My Airtel App users, who can then use their rewards across a range of Airtel Money services.
