Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu was arrested on Monday and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters due to alleged inciting comments he made in Ruiru.
His lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, confirmed the arrest was related to these remarks. Waititu is currently detained at the DCI’s Serious Crime Unit.
Authorities stated that the arrest was necessary to prevent further comments that could incite public unrest. Waititu’s legal team and several political figures rushed to the DCI on Monday afternoon for updates and to discuss the next steps.
Recently, Waititu has joined forces with political leaders like Kalonzo Musyoka in campaigning against perceived poor governance.
