Shock and sorrow have gripped Konoin Subcounty in Bomet County after the body of Edward Too, the Deputy Principal of Kapkilaibei Secondary School, was discovered in River Itare on Tuesday afternoon.
Confirming the incident, Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga said the 49-year-old teacher’s body was found floating near River Itare bridge, approximately eight kilometres from Konoin Police Station. The discovery was reported by Koiwa Location Chief Emily Koech, who spotted the body drifting downstream and alerted the police.

Officers from Konoin Police Station, together with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), visited the scene to retrieve the body. The deceased was positively identified as a resident of Chongweno Location in Konoin.
According to police reports, Too had been missing since Saturday, October 18, 2025. His wife, Sarah Too, had reported his disappearance at Konoin Police Station after he failed to return home.
Imbwaga said the body had no visible injuries when it was recovered. DCI officers documented the scene before moving the body to Kapkatet Subcounty Hospital Mortuary for preservation and postmortem.

Investigations are underway to determine the cause of death.
“Our officers are handling the matter to establish what exactly happened,” said Imbwaga.
Bomet KUPPET Branch Vice Chairperson Peter Bett called for a thorough probe into the teacher’s death, describing the late Too as a dedicated educator who played a key role in the academic success of Kapkilaibei Secondary School.
