Makadara Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti passed away after being shot by a senior police officer inside Makadara Law Courts.
The incident occurred during an active court session when Chief Inspector Samson Kipchirchir Kipruto, OCS of Londiani Police Station, fired at Magistrate Kivuti, hitting her in the chest and pelvic area.
Responding officers later fatally shot Chief Inspector Kipruto. During the chaos, a court orderly and two other officers were also injured while attempting to protect the magistrate and secure the courtroom.
The shooting followed a court decision to remand Chief Inspector Kipruto’s wife, Jenniffer Wairimu, aged 48, who was accused of fraudulently obtaining Ksh.2.9 million.
