Kirinyaga Woman Rep Grants Scholarships to 500+ Students

Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina has initiated a program called ‘Tupange Kesho,’ aiming to support education for over 500 students in Kirinyaga County.

Together with Kirinyaga Senator James Murango Kamau, she allocated Ksh.3 million in bursaries to assist 50 students. Additionally, 521 students, including orphans and those with disabilities, received scholarships totaling Ksh.1 million.

During the distribution event at Kutus Primary School, Njeri emphasized the broader scope of ‘Tupange Kesho,’ which includes socio-economic empowerment through infrastructure provision like tents, water tanks, and school furniture. She highlighted the necessity for increased funding for initiatives like hers to maximize their positive impact on marginalized groups, as evidenced by the testimonials of beneficiaries.

The initiative has already distributed 25 water tanks with a capacity of 5000 liters each, 45 tents accommodating up to 100 people, and over 1135 plastic seats.
