Acting CDF Affirms Military Resilience Despite Loss

Vice Chief of Defence Forces Lt Gen Charles Muriu Kahariri has affirmed the resilience of the military despite the recent loss of Chief of Defence Forces Francis Ogolla and nine others. Kahariri conveyed that the Kenya Defence Forces remains steadfast during this challenging period and continues to fulfill its national duties in accordance with the will of God.

During the memorial service for General Ogolla at Ulinzi Sports Complex, Kahariri, now acting as the CDF, assured President William Ruto that the military remains resolute despite the tragic loss. He emphasized their commitment to maintaining the country’s security as per the General’s aspirations.

Reflecting on General Ogolla’s leadership qualities, Kahariri praised his vision and fairness, highlighting his considerate approach to decision-making. He attributed Ogolla’s leadership style to his professionalism, spirituality, and upbringing.

General Ogolla and nine others lost their lives in a helicopter crash on April 18 while on a peace mission in the Rift Valley region. Ogolla’s body is scheduled to be laid to rest in Ng’iya village, Siaya County, with a memorial service planned for April 26 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata, as per the family’s wishes.
