Separately, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has cautioned motorists and other road users to remain vigilant due to ongoing heavy rains and fog in some regions, warning that reduced visibility and slippery roads have increased travel risks.

NTSA urged drivers, motorcyclists, pedestrians and cyclists to slow down, maintain safe distances, avoid overtaking in poor visibility and be cautious around flooded sections, especially in low-lying areas.
Earlier advisories indicated that moderate to heavy rainfall of between 20 and 30 millimetres could affect parts of the southeastern lowlands, the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Coast, with conditions expected to ease from December 30.

Counties previously highlighted as high-risk areas include Migori, Homa Bay, Kisii, Narok, Kajiado, Makueni, Machakos, Nairobi, Kericho, Bomet, southern Kitui, Taita-Taveta and Kwale.
