Gang Steals Sh7 Million from Man After He Leaves Bank in Nairobi CBD

Police are searching for a group of approximately 12 individuals who ambushed and robbed a businessman of Sh7 million just moments after he withdrew the money from a bank along Nairobi’s busy Mama Ngina Street.

The victim had walked from the bank to deliver the cash to a forex bureau on Koinange Street when, around 9:47 am on Friday, he was confronted by the gang.

It appears the attackers had been alerted beforehand, as they quickly grabbed the money and fled, some on foot and others in a waiting vehicle.

Security cameras captured the incident, showing the gang approaching the victim and causing confusion, while the individual who took the money jumped into a van that sped off.

The police suspect the gang may have been monitoring the victim, possibly following him from the bank. The victim reported the robbery at Central Police Station, and an investigation was launched.

Some of the robbers escaped on foot, as the bewildered businessman tried unsuccessfully to raise an alarm.

The attackers ambushed him as he walked down an alley with the cash.

Police have visited both the scene and the bank as part of their investigation into the robbery.
