Kasmuel Engages UDA Youth Leader to Push Broad-Based Youth Agenda

Political activist Kasmuel McOure on Monday held talks with Brian Kipkorir of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Youth Congress as part of efforts to strengthen coordination of young people under the Broad-Based Youth Front.

McOure said the initiative is aimed at establishing a structured platform for youth participation that will promote a common Youth Agenda and enable direct engagement with the government.

The two leaders discussed ways of uniting youth groups within the arrangement, building internal cohesion and crafting a shared framework, with an emphasis on defining clear objectives before rolling out the initiative countrywide.

McOure noted that the discussions centred on organising young people across different parties, reinforcing unity and putting in place a clear structure to guide engagement before expanding nationally.

He described the meeting as constructive and motivating, saying organised and intentional engagement can lead to meaningful youth involvement in governance.

According to McOure, more consultations are planned to sharpen strategies, align priorities and prepare for a national launch that will articulate a clear, youth-led agenda.

He said the Broad-Based Youth Front seeks to promote a deliberate, strategic and long-term vision for good governance under President William Ruto, adding that the presence of young professionals in key roles at Hustler Plaza demonstrated that youth inclusion can move beyond talk when supported by proper structures.

On December 10, McOure announced that the youth front would begin engaging the government directly on issues affecting young people, marking a departure from reliance on political intermediaries.

He said the movement would not take direction from leaders who were absent during last year’s youth-led protests, expressing concern over what he termed opportunistic attempts by some politicians to reclaim relevance in youth matters.

McOure reaffirmed that the youth front would remain part of the Broad-Based Government until its agenda is fully delivered, vowing to lobby the government directly through a unified youth platform and push for accountability and reforms that reflect the interests of Kenya’s largest demographic.

He has also previously urged elected leaders from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to stay committed to the Broad-Based political framework between ODM and UDA, which he said was established to promote national unity and stability.
