Wiper Patriotic Front Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has appointed Nyali MP Mohammed Ali as Deputy Party Leader-designate of the Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF), describing the move as part of a broader effort to widen the party’s leadership base ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Announcing the appointments, Kalonzo explained that they stem from a mandate given to him by delegates during the party’s National Delegates Congress, where he was tasked with two key objectives: contesting the presidency in the August 10, 2027 election, and expanding the party’s leadership so it could represent a truly national movement.

Kalonzo confirmed that Mohammed Ali would take up the role of Deputy Party Leader-designate, describing the Nyali legislator as a leader whose public career has been defined by a commitment to accountability. He credited Ali with earning national recognition long before entering elective politics, through investigative journalism work that exposed corruption and amplified the voices of ordinary Kenyans.
Kalonzo said Ali’s appointment would help strengthen the party’s appeal, particularly among younger Kenyans, as Wiper works to build a strong coalition capable of challenging the Kenya Kwanza administration in the upcoming election.
In the same announcement, Musyoka also named former Cabinet minister Jamleck Irungu Kamau as chairman of the Wiper Patriotic Front, unveiling a new leadership team he said would help reposition the party as a genuine national political force ahead of 2027.
Kalonzo reiterated that these leadership changes fulfill part of the mandate delegates gave him — to renew and broaden the party’s leadership until it represents every county, generation, and Kenyan.
The announcement comes just days after Kamau withdrew from the Murang’a gubernatorial race, saying he would instead focus his efforts on supporting the United Alternative Government (UAG).
Kalonzo said Kamau would take up his new role as party chairman immediately, citing his extensive background in public service and coalition-building. He described Kamau as a former Cabinet minister for Nairobi Metropolitan Development, a two-term MP, former National Vice Chairman of the Party of National Unity (PNU), and a key negotiator in past coalition governments.
Kalonzo praised Kamau’s three decades of experience in coalition-building, budget management, and holding together politically fractious groups under pressure, saying those skills were exactly what the Wiper Patriotic Front needs as it assembles the United Alternative Government in waiting — a coalition he described as broad enough to unseat the current administration and disciplined enough to govern afterward.
Kalonzo said the leadership restructuring is designed to expand the party’s national footprint and position it as a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 elections, adding that the new team reflects Wiper’s commitment to uniting leaders from across the country under a single political movement.
